Biodegradable Fishing Line

Friday, December 4, 2009 at 2:00AM Recently I was flicking through a catalogue selling eco friendly products when I came across bio degradable fishing line. Wow, I thought, what a great idea! It's not uncommon to have your line snap for one reason or another when trying to catch that prized fish. It has happened to me many times, and in most cases, you cannot retrieve your line from the water or the trees. Fishing line is usually monofilament, which is non-biodegradable and can take up to 600 years to decompose. Fish, birds and animals can get entangled in this thin clear line causing injuries and death.
The product I stumbled across was called Bioline, it follows the same concept as medical sutures that dissolve in the body. It is a biodegradable fishing line that breaks down naturally in the environment after 5 years and is comparable to the monofilament line in performance. Fishing is one of the world's most popular past times so changing over to biodegradable fishing line will go along way in protecting our wildlife.
This will be a great stocking filler for the holidays and you can buy it here at www.greentackle.com
