Save Our State Parks and Historic Sites!

The other day I noticed on Facebook that many of my local friends were joining groups such as Save John Boyd Thacher Park! and 2,000 Strong for Thacher Park. "What is going on?" I thought to myself - was there a fire? an animal infestation? a tree disease epidemic? I did some investigating and what I discovered is far more upsetting. The state government is planning to close many of our beloved state parks and historic sites due to lack of funding in the budget. WHAT?! No park or historic site is safe, even Niagara Falls, Letchworth and Jones Beach are on the chopping block.

Shopping Co-operatively

Today, I became a member of the Honest Weight Food Co-op in Albany, NY. My mother has been shopping there for local vegetables, cheeses, meats, spices and organic products for years, but until recently had never thought about becoming a member. We decided to join together and today I signed us up! What is a food co-op, you ask?
